The Services we offer
The Greeneville-Greene County Community Ministries Food Bank provides a variety of emergency assistance programs designed to help individuals and families maintain food security and address basic needs during times of hardship. Upon arrival, clients will meet with an interviewer who will gather basic household information and assess their needs to determine how the Food Bank may be able to assist. Food assistance is provided based on household size and the availability of food resources.
For individuals requesting financial assistance for the first time, a valid photo ID and proof of address (such as a recent piece of mail) are required. Eligibility for financial assistance and the amount of assistance provided are determined by several factors, including household size, the presence of children in the home, program guidelines, and the availability of funds.
Our goal is to serve our community with dignity, compassion, and respect while providing assistance to those facing temporary hardships.

Food
Emergency food assistance is available upon request once every 30 days per household. Individuals experiencing homelessness may be eligible to receive smaller quantities of food more frequently, based on their circumstances.
Please inform the interviewer of any food allergies, dietary restrictions, or other special needs so we can make every effort to accommodate them.
The amount of food provided is determined by the size of the household and available resources.
Electricity
Limited assistance with electric utility bills may be available for eligible individuals and households. To qualify, applicants must be at risk of service disconnection or have received a disconnect notice from their utility provider.
Please bring a current copy of your electric bill when applying for assistance.
Availability of funds is limited, and assistance may be provided based on eligibility and available resources.
Water
Limited assistance may be available to help with water utility bills for eligible individuals and households.
Please bring a current copy of your water bill when applying for assistance.
Assistance is subject to eligibility requirements and the availability of funds.
heat
The Coal Fund is available during the winter months to assist eligible individuals and households with heating expenses, regardless of their primary heating fuel source.
As with all assistance programs, funding is limited and the amount of assistance available is determined by available resources and program guidelines.
housing
Limited assistance may be available to help with rent or mortgage payments for eligible individuals and households facing housing instability.
To be considered for assistance, applicants must provide documentation such as an eviction notice, a 14-day pay-or-quit notice, or a written notice from their landlord or mortgage lender.
Assistance is subject to eligibility requirements and the availability of funds.
Disaster Relief
If you have been affected by a disaster such as a flood, fire, severe weather event, or other emergency, you may be eligible to apply for Disaster Relief Assistance.
This program is designed to help individuals and families recover from unexpected hardships resulting from qualifying disasters.
Eligibility and assistance amounts are subject to program guidelines and the availability of funds.
